I was pleased to be invited by Normandy Tourism, along with twenty bloggers and Instagrammers to the inaugural evening of Bayeux's sound and light show at the Cathedral. It's a coordinated event along with the towns of Coutances, Caen and Falaise on a medieval theme.
I was allowed to bring a 'plus one' and chose to bring my daughter so she could enjoy the event and learn a little about our joint history, being that we're British (although she was born here) and the show explains the history of William the conqueror and the Battle of Hastings and his eventual accession to the English throne, depicted in the world famous Bayeux Tapestry.
On arrival at the cathedral we discovered one the beautiful Christmas decorations that Bayeux has, an enormous illuminated bauble, so large you can walk inside it.
Here are photos of the sound and light show which was vibrant and interesting. It lasts just under half an hour and is well organised.
In part 2 I'll continue with the visit to discover the Game of Thrones Tapestry that is also on show in Bayeux until the end of the year and hosted in a building just by the Cathedral so it's perfect to plan both on the same day.
