Wow! Discover the Nocturnes de l'Abbaye at the Mont St Michel.

As I'd been editing photos and videos non-stop for over two weeks I had the urge to go out and do some photography. I'd planned to go out and photograph an outdoor music event but due to the weather forecast it was moved into a hall so wasn't what I fancied doing.

On the spur of the moment I drove for 45 minutes to go the Mont St Michel to see if there would be a pretty sunset photo. No luck there either.

So I decided to visit the Nocturnes de l'Abbaye, an event in it's second year. It's on every evening (apart from Sundays) over the summer period. Even though there were a lot of people at the entrance to the Mont St Michel by the time I'd climbed the steps to the Abbey it was quiet with few people visiting, perhaps because I arrived just before 11pm, the cot off time to by tickets.

I was lucky to be the last visitor in the Abbey and had it all to myself (apart from the two members of staff who discreetly followed me to lock up the Abbey's rooms as I went.

Although I'm posting images here, to really appreciate the spectacle you need to hear the music timed with the light show to discover the entirely different aspects of the Abbey at night. Even if you've already visited the Abbey in the day time I highly recommend visiting the 'Nocturnes de l'Abbaye' whilst it's on this summer. It's wonderful. 🤩😲😍

Attention to photography fans and amateurs : Tripods are banned in the Abbey. You will have to work your settings whilst holding your cameras very still. It was quite a challenge...but I love a challenge
